a very close person i know is trying to show biblical proof that there are two classes, one in heaven and the other on a paradise earth, i think i have the celestial class 144000 covered.
i was given these two scriptures as proof that there will be everlasting life on earth.. psalms 72:7 - in his days may the righteous flourish, and abundance of peace till the moon is no more.. isaiah 33:24 - and no resident will say, "i am sick"; the people who dwell there will be forgiven their iniquity.. would anyone have any brackground on these two scriptures and what they really apply to?.
.
According to scholarly commentary from the NAB:
Psalm 72 is a prayer for the secular king, "[a] royal psalm in which the Israelite king, as the representative of God, is the instrument of divine justice and blessing for the whole world. The king is human, giving only what he has received from God. Hence intercession must be made for him. The extravagent language is typical of oriental royal courts. The crown prince is the king's son; the prayer envisages the dynasty."
Re: from sea to sea, "The boundaries of the civilized world known at the time, from the mediterranean Sea (the western sea) to the Persian Gulf (the eastern sea), and from the Euphrates to the islands and lands of southwestern Europe, "the ends of the earth". The words may also have a mystic nuance, - the nuance surrounded by cosmic waters, hence everywhere."
Re Isaiah 33:24, variously refers to a) heaven, b) the current church on earth, c) Israel and Jerusalem after the overthrow of Assyria, and d) after the millenium when the New Jerusalem comes down, onto the new earth mentioned in the Book of Revelation, far in the future.
Nothing in these verses remotely suggest a two-tiered system as the JWs envision.

Remember, the 144,000 is only one side of the coin. Disproving the great crowd on earth is the other.
Hope this helps.

Ray had alot of love.......for the bible......and the brothers!
Who was Ray Franz? Raymond Franz was a former member of the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses for nine years. Born in 1922, Raymond Franz recently passed away on June 2, 2010 at the age of 88 of a brain hemorrhage. He was the author of two books written subsequent to being disfellowshipped by the Jehovah's Witnesses for apostasy, and was regarded by many as the most influential and well-known ex-Jehovah's Witness in the world.
http://www.144000.110mb.com/directory/Raymond_Franz.html
The first book authored by Raymond Franz, Crisis of Conscience, was an epic, groundbreaking expose of the inner workings of the Jehovah's Witnesses ruling governing body, and his life experiences as one member of that secretive, powerful group of select men. With an eloquence and sense of caring that continues to reach out to thousands of former Jehovah's Witnesses, Ray Franz exposed the ugly, sad underside of this high-control false religion. He tells of hypocrisy practiced with respect to blood transfusions, political affiliations, and the Society's ad hoc approach to the development of core doctrine like the alleged destruction of Jerusalem in 607 B.C., and much more. Raymond Franz also describes his personal dealings with the organization of Jehovah's Witnesses and the manner in which he suffered mistreatment in various forms at their hands during the latter part of his tenure.
Crisis of Conscience and his second work In Search of Personal Freedom are essential reading, not only for those seeking to discard the Jehovah's Witnesses' shackles, and for those who have broken free and wish to put the experience into proper prospective, but it also serves as a valuable tool for anyone thinking of joining the Jehovah's Witnesses' religion, or organization, as it describes in lucid detail what's really going on in there.
Ray Franz was far from perfect, and as an active member of the Jehovah's Witnesses' Governing Body he invariably was responsible for damaging teachings and practices himself, many of which he subsequently repudiated. For those seeking an answer to the question "Where do I go from here?" some feel his answers were, and continue to be, inadequate as he tends to distance himself from organized religion and their authority. Nonetheless, Raymond Franz will continue to be missed and remains in our hearts, beloved. His kindness and compassion, and his brave commitment to exposing the truth about the Watchtower Society will never be forgotten.
it's my understanding that the wts teaches that jesus couldn't have been resurrected in a physical body because that would be taking back the payment made by the ransom sacrifice.. it's also my understanding that the wts teaches that people who are not of the 144,000 are not born again and are not under the new covenant.. so how is their sin paid for?
by their own deaths, right?
"the wages of sin is death.".
if those "other sheep" are resurrected bodily from the grave, doesn't that amount to their taking back the payment for their sins?
Good point.
Then Fred Franz changed the phrase "freed from sin" to "acquitted from sin" in the NWT. And every since then witnesses ran around saying that they had a clean slate when they died.
Also true. Amazing that they believe this.

As difficult as it might be to wrap one’s mind around, the Jehovah’s Witnesses teach that resurrected mankind, roughly 20 billion, are judged based on their deeds or conduct during the thousand year reign, not this life today. For all practical purposes they are starting all over again. They reason that because man is supposedly acquitted of sin at death and that he paid for his sins with the wages of death he cannot be put on judgment for evil deeds committed in this life, only the next life during the thousand year reign. He will be judged based on his obedience to future millennial Law scrolls, divine instruction or laws and regulations (the Watchtower magazine, etc.?) which are intended to educate or enlighten him to perfection.
Both those who formerly did good things and those who formerly practiced bad things will be “judged individually according to their deeds.“ What deeds? If we were to take the view that people were going to be condemned on the basis of deeds in their past life, that would be inconsistent with Romans 6:7: “He who has died has been acquitted from his sin.” It would also be unreasonable to resurrect people simply for them to be destroyed. So, at John 5:28, 29a, Jesus was pointing ahead to the resurrection; then, in the remainder of verse 29, he was expressing the outcome after they had been uplifted to human perfection and been put on judgment. (Reasoning, 337)
The Greek word dikaioo means ‘acquittal’ (NWT) or ‘absolved’ (NAB) ‘justified’ (Green’s Literal), or primarily ‘deemed to be right’ (Vine’s, 69). But if you look closely at its use in Romans 6:7 you will notice that the Jehovah’s Witnesses have plucked it out of context as they frequently do and fail to understand the unambiguous meaning of Paul’s discourse. He was referring to a spiritual death to sin for the Christian believer, not the physical, mortal death of all men.
The Bible is very clear. It is Christ's blood that acquits, not our deaths.
Paul is defending “the gospel against the charge that it promotes moral laxity” (NAB note 6, 1-11). He refers to having ‘died to sin,’ and that those baptized were baptized into Christ’s death and buried with him. The symbolic death leads to life with Christ. And true believers must think of themselves as being dead to sin. Nothing in those verses can be interpreted to imply a physical death, or that all evil people are acquitted of their sins at death because Paul made it very clear that “…it is reserved for men to die once for all time and after this a judgment” (Heb. 9:27 NWT). The Jehovah’s Witnesses’ misinterpretation would actually encourage moral laxity.
i notice a lot of the discussions seem to be atheist vs christian here.
or is that just my perception?.
but, do the other people who are neither just not care to debate as much or are there just fewer or them, or both?.
Atheists are rampant. The site is going through a very dry and boring spell right now. Now and then JWN is buzzing with non-atheist discussions, biblical debates, scriptural bantering, some very interesting and useful topics, rather academic in fact. Sadly, much of it lately is hot air. Not sure why. The God-haters and denyers seem to have stomped all over this thing and run most of the believers off or pushed them underground.
watchtowers email on blood.
most witnesses are shocked to learn that under watchtowers blood doctrine jehovahs witnesses can accept a component that is more than 50% of the volume of whole blood.
i just uploaded a new blog article showcasing this piece of information.
Not always prohibited by the Watchtower Society in the past, the current prohibition against blood transfusions is more contentious and polarizing than few other issues pertaining to the Jehovah's Witnesses. Seen by most outsiders as a ghoulish mediaeval ritual reminiscent of the occult and finding no valid support in the Bible, the prohibition against receiving blood in the form of a blood transfusion is regarded by the Jehovah's Witnesses as a mandate, one of God's immutable laws.
http://www.144000.110mb.com/directory/jehovahs_witnesses_beliefs_blood_transfusions.html
As the information below illustrates, not only are the Jehovah's Witnesses beliefs with respect to blood transfusions indefensible in light of scripture and tradition, the Jehovah's Witnesses' beliefs as put in to practice verge on the hypocritical; allowing the transfusion of some blood components but not others has become a deadly farce. Prohibiting blood transfusions based on snippets of scriptural text taken out of context and indifferent to sound, thoughtful biblical scholarship has caused untold misery and pain, and death; the senseless, unwarranted infliction of emotional distress on thousands.
The Jehovahs Witnesses beliefs regarding the prohibition of blood transfusions becomes all the more heinous when it comes to young children, many of whom have died in furtherance of their parents' misguided beliefs. The blood transfusion prohibition is astounding in light of Jeremiah 32:35 which provides in part, "They built high places to Baal in the Valley of Ben-hinnom, and immolated their sons and daughters to Molech, bringing sin upon Judah; this I never commanded them, nor did it even enter my mind that they should practice such abomination." Here, God instructs man NOT to cause a child to be killed as a form of sacrifice to God. Clearly, sacrificing a child by denying him or her a needed blood transfusion is no different. In no way does such a denial of blood and the child's resulting death please the Almighty. It never entered God's mind.
Any individual contemplating joining the Jehovah's Witnesses religion is forewarned to research this issue carefully, study the history and biblical context of the blood prohibition and understand what it means to not 'eat blood' because the Jehovahs Witnesses' beliefs with respect to this gruesome act is not approved by the Almighty, finds no reliable support in scripture and comes close to being a homicide or a suicide. Avoid the anguish for everyone involved and think clearly on this matter. The Jehovah's Witnesses' beliefs on blood transfusions are not to be taken lightly.
jwfacts.com and ajwrb.org and marvinshilmer.blogspot.com are good places to start.
i was 12 years old in 1975. for years before then, i believed that i was a bad child and would not live to see my 13th birthday.
i remember that starting around january 1976, i didn't believe a word anyone said, especially an adult, my parents, much less the elders.
i do not remember much of my teen years.
http://www.144000.110mb.com/directory/1975_jehovahs_witnesses_end_of_world_false_prophecy.html
Given the number of websites devoted to 1975 it amazes me that the JWs still deny their false prophecy. How much proof do they need?
i would assume that some or a good number of us here as normal humans in this society - consider " lawless " actions to include murder , robbery, extortion, rape, child abuse, war , terrorism, etc.
the wt society has their own definition of what's considered " lawless ".
anything that's considered a disfellowshipping offense in the jehovah's witnesses is now considered " lawless ".
and the truth is a complete defense to defamation or slander lawsuit here in the US.
False. You don't have a clue about this, obviously. You shouldn't play lawyer, and if you are a lawyer, you need go get yourself a refund. If you're wrong about this, which you are, you're wrong about much more. Readers beware of this fellow.
